Travel Insurance Woes.

Image
Your Very Tricky Travel Insurance. My blood pressure just shoot up to boiling point after receiving a reply from FWD travel insurance after almost 3 months,  saying they have rejected my claim for the damaged baggage. I am trying to be calm here, but my nose is all flaring up now. Last April upon coming back from Shanghai, I reported a damaged baggage upon arrival and immediately the day after, I reported to Singapore Airlines and FWD Insurance. I am a nerd believer of travel insurance, I feel travelling is a risky business and would always want to have my ass covered especially for this trip since I am travelling with my laptop and other business paraphernalia. At first I was hesitant to report to the airlines and decided to do the claim instead to FWD, but I did both anyway. If SQ would reject my claim then at least I tried, I could say. Right after a few days I got an email from SQ with a proposal to compensate me for the damage. My luggage was not brand ne

Of Branded Bags

Image
Years ago I had a wake up call about branded bags. choose local! When we went to Paris, one on my list was to get an original designer bag straight from a French shop. Em and I  went around Champs-Elysees the whole morning only to find that the store was closed for renovation. The next available shop was at Rue Saint Honore', which took us the rest of the afternoon locating it, as you know the French building numbers assignment is a lot more confusing than you realize. When we finally located the shop they just declared that they are closed for the day. You can just imagine the big sigh I had that day. Our flight back home was the next afternoon so we had to be early the next day. The following day we were early - way too early had to walk around first before they open at 10AM. By the time they opened, we went inside but we were not the first ones as a few Asians were also waiting for the shop doors to open. I happily made the purchase and flew back home 6000 miles away.

zeki's pre-school

Lately I've been having a lot of pressure on when I would have Zeki attend his pre-school class. Zeki is two years old and is mostly enjoying his time as a toddler - running around, screaming, throwing stuff, building things and destroying it, spitting water and swimming on it. My answer to them is he will - when he is ready. Just wait. You see, he will have 12 years of school and 5 years to specialize, so why would I hurry so much? the apoks learning from the trees. I do not understand why there is such thing as pre-school. For me, pre-school is the real world around you just before you go into a more controlled environment of learning. That’s why it’s pre-school. And why would you go to school for pre-school? It should already be called in-school. I do respect any parent’s decision on letting their child go to pre-school but they cannot just impose it on me. I keep hearing that he has to learn in school stuff like colors, or shapes or numbers. But thes

Having Zekariah

Having a baby was the last thing on my mind since I got off after 7 years working my ass off. I was planning so much of working part time and traveling big time. But then life has a funny way of giving you surprises! Early 2015 we found out we were pregnant. We had to do the manual P-test and the digital P-test plus the doctor's confirmation just to make sure it's real. Oh ya! Then I felt sad. I won't lie. I really felt sad. I do not know what to do. How can I take care of a little human being? How am I going to deliver it? I've never ever been confined in a hospital. How am I going to work? I am having a high risk pregnancy because of my age. So I promised myself, I have to take it one day at a time. True enough, I was getting well so far. I was pregnant but I was still working and travelling to and fro. I was so happy the little bundle of joy in my tummy is very cooperative in all my activities. My pregnancy tests went normal so far and I was
